Seed to Seat
Every piece of Gloster teak originates from the world’s largest sustainably-managed Indonesian forests. Gloster only harvests what they have planted themselves, and every tree that is felled is placed in the soil by one of the Gloster forest workers – workers whom the company has known for a lifetime. This approach to creating furniture offers a rare opportunity to provide the most sustainable manufacturing process in turn producing furniture that is sustainable beyond any other method.
Quality & Craftsmanship
Gloster also has local experts who understand wood and instinctively know how to read a log. Only the most superior grade of teak is selected for manufacturing their products. Whereas most companies use teak that is only ten years old and has little density or oil content, Gloster only chooses logs with a minimum age of approximately thirty-five years and upwards to ensure the timber is of sufficient quality. Gloster’s furniture is not the result of random mass production – skilled craftsmen build each piece by hand, from every joint to the rounded corner.

Of course, great manufacturing is wasted without great design. Gloster currently works with several world-renown designers to create timeless outdoor furniture. Once a concept is approved, designers work closely with the development team at our factory to further refine their designs. And even in this digital age, they insist our designers travel to and spend time at our factory so they get to know their people, our raw materials and their philosophy.
